// Get more sleep

Sleep, glorious sleep.

I once tried to survive on 5 hours a night for an extended period of time and let me tell you, my whole health collapsed. I was burning the candle at both ends, working two demanding jobs and had a lot of personal stress in my life at the time.

I was trying to fix it all at once and the first things to go were my basic needs. I learned the hard way, that adequate sleep is a non-negotiable.

The number one tip I could ever give someone struggling from burnout, would be to sleep as much as you need for as long as it takes, without guilt. I slept 9-10 hours for many months, and still sometimes do, while in recovery. Everything turned around for me from there.

Here are 5 reasons you need to prioritize sleep to burn slow not out.

1. Strengthens your immune system.
2. Lowers stress levels, and improves mental health.
3. Improves focus and brain function.
4. Keeps hormones balanced.
5. Lowers risk of stroke, cancer, diabetes and obesity.

Don’t wait for a drastic decline in your health to prioritize good sleep. I promise you it’s not worth it. And on that note…..I’m off to bed.
