Date With Self | A Self-Care Practice

This is one of my favourite tools for self-connection - a date with you, for you, by you!

It’s a helpful exercise because it brings awareness to your needs and gives you full permission to meet them. It gives you time to quiet the noise and take good care of yourself. Follow the steps below to help plan your date. I want you to really impress yourself with this one! Remember that you have the power to take time for yourself, care for yourself, and step away from your obligations, even if just for a few hours.

Step One: Journal:

If you were to plan your dream date in this moment:

  1. What activities would you plan?

  2. What would you eat or drink?

  3. If money were no object, what would you do on this date?

  4. How would you really impress yourself on this date?

  5. What would feel nurturing for you on this date?

  6. How much time would this date take?

  7. What support needs to be in place to make this date a reality?

  8. List the reasons you deserve a date like this.

Step Two: Plan the Date:

Based on your reflections from journalling, pick an actual date in the calendar now and make this a reality!

Keep in mind:

  • This date is with you, yourself and you only.

  • This is a non-negotiable time set in your calendar in advance. Do not cancel on yourself!

  • Ensure that any obligations are taken care of advance and set your phone on do not disturb.

  • Plan a date that really impresses you!

Step Three: Enjoy

I hope you thoroughly enjoy this time created for you, by you. I hope this is the date you always dreamed of, remembering that you have the power to give yourself what you need.

I encourage you to plan one of these dates a few times a year to re-connect with YOU. You are the most important person in your life and showing up for yourself, helps you show up for others.

Happy Planning!
